On Saturday, an impressive farewell was bid to Desi Bouterse, the honorary chairman of the NDP and former president.
The National Democratic Party (NDP) has conveyed its sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone who contributed in any way to the respectful and dignified funeral of our beloved Desire Delano Bouterse. The support, involvement, and compassion have not only made the solemn ceremony a fitting tribute but have also demonstrated how close-knit and united our community is. We are deeply touched by the care and dedication that many of you have shown in accompanying the deceased with respect and honor on his final journey. Thanks to your support and cooperation, the funeral has evolved into a popular manifestation dedicated to National Honor and dignity, which will preserve the memory of Desire Delano Bouterse in a respectful manner. It is an honor for all of us to stand together in this time of loss, and we thank you for your sympathy in any form. We also want to acknowledge the moral and physical support, as well as the attentions from all parts of the world, including friends of the NDP in Europe, members of the diplomatic corps, government leaders, representatives of friendly countries and international organizations. Local political parties, organizations, and the media should not be forgotten. May the deceased rest in peace, and may the family find comfort in the memories we cherish together.
